Description
Macallan Folio 8 highlights ‘The Colossus of Nose’ billboard from the 1980s, which played on the whisky’s ‘towering aromas.’ The ad was a creative spin on The Colossus of Rhodes, the giant bronze statue of Helios, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Steven Bremner, whisky maker at The Macallan, explained: “This eighth edition of The Macallan Folio Archival Series draws inspiration from the 1980s billboard ‘The Colossus of Nose.’ The ad playfully referenced the magnificent aroma of our single malt.
“We selected exceptional European Sherry-seasoned oak casks from The Macallan’s inventory to craft a whisky that mirrors the artwork’s stature and prominence. The result is a celebration of outstanding flavors and aromas.”
Folio 8’s nose reveals golden sultanas, ripe dates, sweet berry compote, and toffee brittle. Its palate offers sweet raisins, sultanas, ginger, lemon, and orange zest. The finish is long and rich, with notes of sweet oak spices.
