Macallan Edition No1 Wooden Box

For much of the 20th century, Macallan was mainly used as a component in blends. It wasn’t until the market downturn of the 1980s that the distillery shifted its focus to its single malt brand. This shift coincided with a surge in interest for high-quality releases that Macallan had licensed to Campbell, Hope & King and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. These releases remain highly collectible.

The Edition No1, launched in 2015, is the first release in the Edition series. It matured in a mix of 58% Butts, 23% Hogshead, and 19% Puncheon casks. This expression showcases the complexity achieved by using a variety of cask types.
