Macallan 25 Sherry – Pre 2018

For much of the 20th century, Macallan primarily served as a constituent malt in blends. It wasn’t until the 1980s downturn that the distillery shifted focus to its single malt brand. This change coincided with a surge in interest for high-quality releases that Macallan had licensed to Campbell, Hope & King and Gordon & MacPhail in the 1960s and 1970s. These releases remain some of the most collectible today. To keep up with demand, Macallan opened a new distillery in 2018, a subterranean marvel on the Easter Elchies estate, featuring 36 copper pot stills.

The 25-Year-Old Sherry Oak from Macallan is among the most sought-after whiskies worldwide.

This particular version, from the mid to late 2010s, features the Whisky Tint numbers introduced by Bob Dalgarno. These numbers highlight Macallan’s natural color, a key element of their Six Pillars and the cornerstone of the 1824 Series, produced from 2012 to 2018.
