Description

GlenDronach 21 Original, established in 1826 by James Allardice, was rebuilt in 1852 by Walter Scott (not the famous author). In 1920, Charles Grant, the youngest son of William Grant, acquired the then-silent distillery from the government. The Grant family owned it until they sold it to Wm. Teacher 40 years later. Both the Grants and Teachers were early advocates of single malt whisky. GlenDronach remained a key player in the single malt category until Allied Distillers mothballed it in 1996. The distillery revived in 2002 and has since become a leading single malt brand.

Launched in 2011, GlenDronach Parliament is the 21-year-old core range expression. It takes its name from the rooks that have nested in the distillery’s trees for centuries. The whisky matures in a mix of Oloroso and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks.

Due to the distillery’s brief closure in 1996, bottles of this 21-year-old expression from 2016 to 2022 contain much older whisky. Pre-1996 GlenDronach, like this one, also has a gentle peat influence from the distillery’s early in-house malting process, which is no longer used.
